Spool purchase Facebook to mark and share content on mobile devices




Facebook added mobile technology with the acquisition of Spool, a young company that specializes in identifying and sharing content on smartphones or tablets.


"Spool's team has extensive experience in developing mobile software and a passion to make the content easy to consume," Facebook said Monday.


Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Spool can organize content using bookmarks online to access digital stories, videos or other material in different Internet-connected devices.


"We created Spool to make Web content easy to consume on a mobile device," the company said in a blog, which announced its entry into the leading social network.


"We firmly believe that the solution of these problems will become increasingly important in a world that primarily access the Internet through mobile devices."


Facebook, which is headquartered in Menlo Park, California (west), as a priority to improve its mobile offering to meet the demand of users increasingly access the service from smartphones or tablets.
